What Happened If A Roman Got Sick?:
Romans weren't very interested in medicine it is said that they preferred mathematics and solving puzzling questions, and practical problems, they didn't know to much about medicine. Before doctors came to Rome it is said that each household in Rome knew enough about herbal cures and medicine to treat small illnesses in the household if someone got sick. If a Roman in the household was sick the other family members would ensure that they would bath regularly and be in a clean environment with clean clothes for they believed that the cleaner you were the better chance you had of fighting off the sickness and that you would get cure quicker. Romans also believed that the fitter you were the easier it was to fight of an illness. Romans spent more money on keeping fit than they did on medicine. After the Romans invaded and took over Greece they used lots of their doctors as slaves, and if you were rich enough you would buy your own personal doctor. Romans learned most of their knowledge about medicine from the Greeks. There were no medicine schools in Rome so doctors would just pass their knowledge down onto another Roman that wanted to be a doctor, if they felt that their time was coming to an end.
